Balancing Family, College, Work, & Volunteering

Dawn said Jul 24, 11:29 PM:

I wear a number of hats on a daily basis, none of which involves exercise or proper nutrition.

With mid-life fast approaching, I have decided it's time to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.  This involves a new adventure back to school.  Wow, have things changed since the last time I was in a college classroom.  I am taking summer classes, which might not have been the brightest idea.  It's a bit overwhelming and I feel way out of my league, but expanding the mind is always a good thing.  All will surely get easier as I get back into the swing of things.

Because I already have a degree, I don't need to take any electives.  This allows me to keep my job on a part-time basis.  My boss is great about letting me know that I'm appreciated.  The downside is that the nature of my position involves complaints and demands.  I just put on my happy face and keep moving forward.

I hold a number of volunteer positions with a local youth development organization and one position in the parent organization at my daughter's high school.  I firmly believe that nothing does more for the spirit than doing for others.

The crown jewel of my life is my husband of 16 years.  He is completely supportive of any journey I choose to take and loves me unconditionally.

My daughter is a teenager, so the daily winds determine what she's going to be like on any given day.   I can't wait for her school to start.

I have a lot going on and spend a lot of time with “glass half empty” and “poor me” kind of people.   I joined this site looking for ways to alleviate some stress and keep a positive attitude.  I would appreciate any help and encouragement.

I would like to tell you, as a high student, how much you must be appreciated by your daughter.
My mother supports my endeavors as you support your daughter. Without my mother's help and support, I know I would be lost and confused. So thank you for being a wonderful mother. :)
Good luck with your classes, deflect the negativity of your job, and have a wonderful journey finding balance in your life.

Peace,
Morgan
