Is looking at someone else's point of veiw & what their going through, while still thinking about what you're going through, too. America needs to step up & go into some else's point of veiw. Some people call me 'close minded" but, I beg to differ. I think open mindedly and then I go with that. I have times of dout, have to admit. But when people critisize me, it only makes me stronger. And that's what America needs to do.

I agree that America needs what you're describing, but to my mind it's more about empathy, what you're describing -- not really 'enlightened' per se.

I think what America needs, is the same with the rest of the world.

The evolution if higher thinking amongst every single individual. A journey into self, finding personal truths and having the courage to dream big resulting in people banding together and creating anew.

Starting with grassroots community building. Looking after each others Rights and creating environments that nurture, developing a community which is strong, intimate and peaceful. Defying the Corporate, the governments and the media with self-power and self-reliance.

I think enlightenment is not a singular journey, but a journey the whole of humanity should strive TOGETHER. I think it is selfish and futile a journey that is taken alone. But hand in hand, mind to mind, intention with intention, i do believe, we will overcome.

hi, Dennet and Martin --

having been a serious spiritual student for many years, I can add my voice happily to the aria about communal enlightenment rather than individual enlightenment. my experience is that the depth of enlightenment can't flow easily to any individual -- it really comes to whole groups working together, regardless of personality issues or differences of surface opinions at any given moment.

a group working together -- and that can be a group as small as a few people, and as large as a continent's population -- ! -- or the world at large! -- offers buffers and protections from all kinds of daily illusion and challenges to spiritual attainment that a single person would find impossible to create for themself.

it's also true that as one group attains a certain level of spiritual awareness or awakeness, the 100th Monkey effect starts to apply, and suddenly..... whatever small sparks were lit up can be expanded into a real blaze of light.

and I agree, the world really needs this. especially now.

Not an easy task Alx !

While group enlightenment is what we are seeking -
I don't think we have achieved that well enough, yet -
although we are on the road to doing so.

We need to love one another and work together to achieve this
on Gaia, and I feel we need to work on the collective issue.

no, it's not an 'easy task' --*grinning about the immense challenge of diverse personalities* -- but it's pretty simple: united we stand, divided we fall.

I think you'd be surprised at the depth of enlightenment experiences happening, today, in the world as a result of relatively small groups of people doing profound group work, meditation, and high spiritual processes. within a few years, I have little doubt that hundreds of thousands of people will be practicing deep spiritual work with one another -- well beyond the surface level of what passes for normal human life right now.

as the consciousness increases, suffering tends to diminish -- and that opens up doorways for humanity that most of us would, I suspect, find fantastical right now.

but it IS happening, and powerfully.

hi -yes I know it is happening, that is true.

But it still seems so slow and putting it together like a huge jigsaw!

While I know there are groups of people, putting it altogether -it is the
alignement of the groups that seems to be an impediment, at times.

Just like Religion -still divided -just like the Political slogan-keep the
people apart.

I don't believe we are accepting enough of each other's enlightenment.

They say as one door closes, another open's -but we need them
ALL to be open.

Perhaps as we all become enlightened we will begin to see more enlightenment in others,
perhaps reflected back to us...

I like this post. Actually, it is very close a techniqued used to realize enlightenment, less one step.

This idea is oriental: And it is this: To realize enlightenment - using your words - "is looking at someone else's point of view and what they are going through --- and dropping yours entirely.'

Living without a point of view and considering other's for what they are alone is a buddhist technique! Very enlightening.

I have noticed most "people oriented" techniques are extreme. For example, Gurdjieff might say, 'always remember Self' and Buddha might say, 'think only of the other.'

From my own practice one or the other produces the best results. When you think of both, it does not produce the same clarity.
