Learn more about the atrocities in Darfur, Northern Uganda the Eastern Congo and beyond. Share your knowledge and resources with others about what is happening and what can be done. Take Action yourself and with others to put an end to crimes against humanity. GIVE 'EM 8 CAMPAIGN The idea is to commit to giving 8 hours of your life for the cause in Darfur. I relate this to giving one working day of your life. If you can give more than 8 hours that is great, but I am asking for at least 8. Now, my hope is that I/we could get enough people here on zaadz or if you have other internet groups you are part of to get involved and that we would try for 10,000 people to Give 'em 8! I realize 10,000 people is a lot, but we might as well dream Big. How will we keep track? Ideally anyone that Gives 'em 8 would sign up here or post here that they met the challenge. Now, what do you do in that 8 hours? Here are just a few ways to Give 'em 8, and I promise to give you some more as I think or find them - 1. Raise your awareness by reading more online about Darfur, buying or checking out a book or talking with others familiar with the issues. 2. Write a letter to your Senators or Congressperson. Each person only has 3 to write to so it would not take that long. Check out http://darfurscores.org/ for more about your representatives. 3. Join in on the video campaign from 24 Hours for Darfur, a global video advocacy campaign to help the crisis in Darfur. Make a 30 second to 1 minute video and submit it to their site. Check out some of the videos they have already - http://www.24hoursfordarfur.org/videos.php 4. See a documentary about Darfur. See it with friends and talk about it afterwords. See links to documentaries at this Pod post - http://pods.zaadz.com/learn_share_act/discussions/view/163217#163217 5. Buy a wristband or banner or car magnet or buy many and hand them out to friends. 6. Find a local organization involved in the issue and contact them. Find out how you can help. Check out http://www.savedarfur.org/ for links to organizations. 7. Blog on zaadz or create a blog site specifically for Darfur. 8. Send emails to friends, family, and coworkers if your company allows and inform them of the issues surrounding Darfur. 9. Hey, if you can do it, donate 8 hours of your salary to a charitable organization working on the crisis in Darfur. Or you could simply donate 8 hours of your time helping them. 10. Attend an event for Darfur. Check out the calendar of events page. What do you know, there are more than 8 ways to Give 'em 8! Now be sure to let us know how it goes and if you have some other ideas for that 8 hours, share it with the rest of the group. Now go on - GIVE 'EM 8! |
