You heard it here first....the 3rd Annual Huntington Beach Gaia/Zaangha BEACH PARTY will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2008!!!! Come one, come all!!! Bring sunscreen, towels, favorite CD's, poems, ideas and and your wonderful selves!!!! Yes, Virginia, there is a God and he surfs at Bolsa Chica!!!

Mr. Wilber! Please come to our SoCal party! We can hang out and chat about Great Falls, Montana!! Who knew such greatness could come out of Cascade County?

Dear Ken,

I can go to China and help the earthquake victims, since I am a nurse trained in emergency medicine and surgery.
I am great with kids too...I have a friend who is a member of Gaia , who has his degree in environmental science and psychology, who is willing to go to...he said he would don scrubs help lift people and hold an intestine if he had to...

While I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Wilber's sentiments in his quote... shared self esteem...
I just don't get at all the idea of how we all need to rationally evolve to get there...

For these reasons...

1) 80% of the world's population is not as rationally evolved as Wilber envisions, and yet through their meekness... they live a simple loving life

2) the problems of the world today are not based in ignorance, they are based in the highly educated, rationalistic leaders of the world.... whose rational idealism of truth is the cause of all conflict in the world. Interestingly, the vast majority of these leaders, be they American, Chinese, Russian, Ceylonian, or Sudanese.... they are graduates of Harvard, Yale, Oxford... and their money and military power... combined with their rational capacities are the cause of the conflict, hatred and death in this world.

Love of those who are poor, meek, uneducated... and full of heart... is the only path to our salvation.

I have tried for so long to honestly understand the merits of Wilber's message, but in the end.. a rational meritocracy is a wonderful dream... but has nothing to do with spiritual awareness.

hi Dave, so good to see you posting again :D

there are surely 'good' and 'bad' people among the poor and uneducated as well as the formally educated.

the people who do harm to others, whether rich or poor, could be seen as rationalizing, or 'wrongly' educated, where not blind to the harm they cause through ignorance or a constricted worldview.

i think you are right that 'spiritual awareness' is what is most important and most lacking, but i think this may be true for the majority of the poor, as well as the majority of the rich.

you once told me when i expressed my regret of integral jargon, that you had come to understand that different messages resonate with different people, and that if integral promoted spiritual awareness among the group for whom it resonated with, good for integral...or something along those lines.

one example that integral has helped this seeker to expand his awareness and thus love for all; in going through my writings from a few years back, before i had subscribed to WIE or read wilber, i noticed my tone was decidedly judgemental toward those whose selfish actions caused harm to others. before sharing any of those old views now i have to spend time 'cleaning' up my old jargon, for i had simply labelled them 'evil' and 'unscrupulous', and was decidedly hateful of them. i see them now, through a more integral perspective, with much greater compassion and understanding. this view has greatly reduced my fear/anger/hatred toward these folks, which has opened up my capacity of love for them and the role they have played in the Kosmos...though i still maintain that this role is quickly approaching a necessary end, i was never going to be able to encourage anyone toward greater spiritual awareness by calling them 'evil' and telling them they 'needed' to change their ways.

just one example, but since my own is often the only 'case study' i know to contribute, there it is ;D

A little drop-in to say hi to my friends is such a joy.

I do have to be careful about my views on Integral. There is no question that it is a wonderful model to help so many wonderful people illuminate their spiritual awareness in ways that are balanced with our other cognitive capacities.

The part that I always struggle with, and inappropriately fall back into generalizing about , is the context by some that Integral is the universal panacea for unifying our diverse spiritual viewpoints, now and forever amen. That is just a bit too much for this dry little mouth to swallow.

So, until I am able to rise above my own biases, I am enjoying reading and listening to your dialogues, and find that from this quiet distance, I can be more objective.
