Christianity and Culture is there space for integral?
From George W. and politics, to Christian music, and a huge upswing in the mega-church evangelical movement, there is no denying one form of Christianity is making a home in American culture. But is there room for an alternative Christianity? Can mainstream Christianity really evolve and be a "conveyor belt" (as Ken Wilber put it) to create a cultural shift in America? How has "Christian" culture effected you? Does Integral Christianity stand a chance in America today? Share your thoughts....

Christian Naturalism!
Naturalism offers a comprehensive way for Christianity to avoid the dualism of body/ spirit, this world/ the afterlife. Naturalism invites people to see their place in a wide and wondrous natural system which is laden with miracles at every turn. Naturalism invites people to embace the sufficiency of the present moment as a divine revelation and opportunity for transformation. Naturalism invites people to a direct experience of spirit, defined as the miraculous inteconnectedness of all things. Check out this link- its an excellent statement of spirituality without dogmatic religion Write up your responses if you read it http://www.naturalism.org/spiritua1.htm Ian |

Specific and/ or Universal?
Christianity contains universal truths, such as the Sermon on the Mount which encourages inner motivation rather than living by duty. Christianity has been interpeted through the centuries to include specific/ and exclusive beliefs such as faith in Jesus being the only way to God. How do we balance the universal (Christianity has its own language to express truths that are written into nature and most other religions) with the specific( Christianity has unique truths to offer)? |

1/2/3 God
A first person ("I) perspective on God is the God within. A third person (:it") perspective is the God beyond God; beyond words and concepts and beyond classification. This is the realm of mystery and the web of life.
A second person perspective seems to be more problematic in a non theistic Christianity; that is, without a separate, personal, objective God to submit to and have a relationship with. Second person perspectives are essential in most spiritual traditions, in order to transcend self indulgence. This is often the place of discipline and growth. So how do non theistic spirit seekers regain a second person perspective, without falling back on a codependent supernatural being? |
