Note taking is optional - usually, mostly. This would be a fun-restoring concept for many students. I ~~stumbled upon~~ came across an illustrative post in a study hack blog about this and it hit me that a no note taking policy might be more widely foolishly wise.

Really I stopped calling life challenges lessons a long while ago and no longer consider earth life to be a school, though I know this metaphor works for many. When I was in school, note taking took away nearly all of the fun. I now take life as a voyage of thrilling adventures and jot down as few notes as possible. If I ever want to pause and write a book I shall have to sit down and remember...and embellish.

Too late for restoring more fun to my own school days (or daze) did I notice that I never did go back and study any of those notes I still felt complelled to compile. I was able to get Bs OK without studying at all, beyond participating in my classes, thank goodness! And thank-guardian-angels I learned to quit caring about getting higher than Bs in conventional school classes.

I know it has been a long while since I have posted or blogged so here I am sharing the first fun-restoring, ordinary-reality life-shifting (towards better) thing I stumbled upon today during a visit to the library. Ouest on!

Stumbling itself can be a humbling and fun-restoring as well as self-educational practice anyway. I suppose you meant you stumbled upon that instructive post the old-fashioned way.

This computer does not have StumbleUpon but I keep stumbling upon wise foolish fun in the web of life and the WWW. Here is a surprising WWW search result for 'life, lessons, and grim' which I thought might bring me to some bizarre irony or out-of-the-way weirdness.

When I was in formal school usually I doodled instead of taking notes and the doodles every so often turned into mnemonic devices. My doodles were mostly abstract but they helped me get more concrete.

AH HA!

Amost immediately I changed the words 'stumbled upon' to 'came across' and - WOW - how quickly you noticed and responded to the original post! I now wish I had left well-enough alone.

Yes it does seem to me that I stumble upon fun stuff well enough without the benefits of StumbleUpon. I must be nudged or shoved by Trickster. But you would do well to install StumbleUpon, in my humble opinion.

Indeed...

I have been online more lately - for entertainment and self-education, but not writing - and I noticed the Gaia notification of new posts here (because Gaia's notifications began arriving in Yahoo! mail again...yay). But I seem to have developed a - rational or is it irrational? - fear of registering and opening new accounts on the web.

I was wondering if I might be turning into a ludicrous luddite!

Greetings Circle Companions!

Back when I was in formal school I still took notes and doodled all around them but I have long since given up note taking. When I attend workshops I am amazed that I am the only one NOT scribbling notes.

I slept with the required textbooks next to my head as I took procrastination to absurd extremes. Then I discovered this method was used by Edgar Cayce long before me as another non-ordinary way to receive knowledge. It worked fine. When I do read non-fiction books I tend to read them by thumbing through from back to front several times and this gives me a surprisingly helpful gist, usually.

And now here is a wonderful word I did StumbleUpon this morning. Thanks to you two I have a perfect excuse to share it: Sonoluminescence!

So.

The last or first or only lesson to master is that life isn't (necessarily) a series of lessons nor earth a school - unless maybe it is an alternative school - and doodling and dreaming are just as educational as note taking.

BTW I used the StumbleUpon recently on a friend's computer. But even though he listed fun and humor as interests I kept stumbing upon serious stuff. It seemed for about an hour as if even the fun stuff was serious stuff.

There was just one exception, a toy or trance inducer called Automachine.

From Phoenix, via Shamanic Shift Center's voicemail comes an urgent request to our circle Sheila to clear her (or shamanize her and her situation in whatever way each is guided to do) to give her relief and freedom from psychic vampir attacks, which is how she describes the distress she is experiencing. She is requesting ongoing assistance from our circle with everyone shamanizing together even if separately - daily, weekly, monthly, or however.

A shaman who had been assisting her somewhat successfully can no longer help her as he has left the country to be healed of a life threatening dis-ease. So we can add J.M. to our list also.
