The Gift

The Gift is always there. It has been given before birth into this lifetime. Very early in life it asserts its presence, and teaches one on one. The Gift is different for every soul and every lifetime, so there is no real competition or comparison possible or needed. The Gift is multidimensionally creative and widens and deepens with time, as it is nurtured and integrated by the harboring soul. The Gift's only requirement is to be shared, only to be shared with the world. Without that sharing, the Gift is no longer given. It waits for the moment when the heart reopens to give itself again. My Gift in this lifetime is Music. My Gift of Music is sacred to me. It flows through me like Niagra Falls when I am kind and loving and at peace with myself and the world. When I am anxious, angry or fearful, it dries up like the Gobi Desert and blows away. The Gift comes to me when it has something to say. That may be while I am sleeping or eating, driving, or in a conversation with others. It's up to me to honor the Gift and excuse myself from whatever I am doing to write it all down, or not. I am careful to make sure that the message I am getting is one that resonates with who I am as a soul. Messages that say or imply negative, cynical or destructive things, I ignore. I believe the Gift blows like a wind through eternity, and that we harness the power of the Gift through our acceptance of its council, and our willingness to share the Gift with others. The Gift helps us grow as a soul, and gives purpose and meaning to our lives. The Gift helps us realize our place and our connection to all of our relations in this world, and to the Universe. The Beginning

Oh yes, there is a beginning, even though we don't know where it is or how to find it. It comes to us that there has been a beginning. Oh oh, now what? I'm going to have to be responsable for something. Yikes! or Yippeee! Depending on how I feel today. It's bigger than me, this beginning, so I'm going to have to hold on, because the wave is COMING THROUGH! Take a deep breath and realize that you must be here for this, or it wouldn't have happened...so I must be prepared...right?...right? I guess we will all just have to see...but, there ain't no stoppin' this. I can go hide in the woods or a city bar and the syncronicities just keep on happening...and the lessons...and the need just keeps on showing it's nasty little head all around me. Today. Today I am going to own this thing, and put up my head and step forward as if I really knew what it's all about. I am going to cover my eyes to shelter me from all the sun that is here, and I am going to make my first work. Ego...just get out of the way, because I have a job to do. Family history...get behind be and start supporting, or just stay in the back, 'cause I'm movin' forward, I have work to do! Trouble is, it's not work, it's a feel good sitting around receiving kind of thing. But...wasn't I supposed to DO something??? No honey, just relax and be yourself. It will all work out!

Strength and Courage, and Positivity

I was born in San Francisco. I grew up there during a time of tremendous change and growth, both spiritually and otherwise. I remember listening to the different radio stations in the 50's, and liking the R&B stations best, because they made me feel like I was family, not talked down to, not talked up to, but family. When I write and sing, I always try to come from that feeling. When I was 6 or so, a group of musicians came to my school and performed a program of classical and patriotic songs. I decided then and there that I was going to become a professional musician, period. It was a tidal wave of emotion that swept me over the falls and down into the mighty river of passionate purpose. From that purpose, I have strayed at times, lost in the eddying pools of chaos and confusion, suggestion and manipulation, discouragement and disconnection. There are always other agendas and intentions in the world, and holding your own is always an issue. But throughout, I have always known that I made the right choice for my soul's purpose. At times I have questioned whether I would ever make money enough to support myself as a professional musician, but I had the strength and courage to always describe myself as a musician, even on application forms for other jobs. My songs have always helped me to heal myself, and testimonials from others who have heard my music and been healed have reinforced my resolve to continue my passion in music. I felt unheard and misunderstood for a long time, and came to realize that by my belief in these blockages, I had created just such a blockage. I was creating my own invisibility and misconception out there in the community. I was responsible for the logs in my own path! Now this took some integrating, and some swallowing of pride and reprogramming of habits. Instead of telling myself that I was weak and powerless, invisible and misunderstood, I began telling myself that I am loved and understood, accepted and revered, powerful and positive. This has made a tremendous difference in my life. My music chronicles this entire process.

Continuing Saga of The Beginning

I was just big enough to be on my swing set alone, and today I was alone even though I had 3 siblings and 18 cousins, and a bunch of friends living all around. I was on the land that my family had owned for generations, looking out over the land that was quickly transforming from the pressures of society. Beside me was a huge being of light, that looked kind of like a person, but really huge, and kind and loving. It said to me, without really speaking, but clear as day, "You are going to be like Jesus." and I got it, the way you just get these things, and it was an afirmation inside myself, yeah, I know, kind of experience. It was kind of a transmission of sorts, and a totally altered state of reality that was all light filled and bright, at the same time I was just sitting on the swingset, doing my thing. After it was over, I went back to my normal life, doing things like biting my sister if she tried to steal my stuff, and playing kickball and things. I didn't act like Jesus at all. I kept doing my thing, and sowing my oats as much as I felt like, until one time I took a healing class. I was psychic enough to see things, and I saw the healing guide I would get with the class, but right next to it was another healing guide. One that I just knew was my healing guide. It was an easy choice. Mine was huge and very very bright. I wasn't going to go for anything dull when I could have bright! That was in October of 1989. I told my girlfriend, who had worked with Huna Healing, what had happened to me when we were having lunch in this Jewish deli in Berkeley. She said, "Can I talk to your guide?" I had never thought of that. Well, I could try...suddenly my arms were vibrating all over the place, and I was "getting" it. From that day on, I was in training, and I knew it.

Hello there! mb here. I was drawn to this pod because of the intention of creating healing music. Every fiber of my being resonates with the possibilities of healing music! As an artist I make healing art, healing writing and healing music! its good stuff! :-)

also, as a lover of the sweatlodge, id surely be interested in knowing what they have in common with preconcerts.

Hi Everyone, Alex and I really love having your participation in this pod, but to keep things functioning safely for all those who are wanting to create healing music, we probably need to establish some ground rules to this pod. If you have music you would like pod members to hear and comment on, please make sure your music is copyrighted. You can do that by contacting the: Register of Copyrights Library of Congress Washington DC 20559 And asking for a Form PA. (You can send in a bunch of songs as a suite: "ie. Suite A" and that way you can copyright it all for the price of processing the form, which is about $30, instead of paying $30. per song) If you have lyrics that you want to copyright, you can just say the lyrics onto a tape and do the same, or copyright them in the same way that you would any written work. Please do not put on the pod lyrics that are not copyrighted. If you want to put a poem on the pod, and it is just like your words of comment, as an audience, feel free to state that and thereby leaving it open to public domain, that's fine. Maybe it will inspire some of our artists to use your words in a song. Otherwise... Those actually working with creating healing music, I will expect that what comes on the pod is copyrighted by you in every way. If you are entering something here that you want to be heard as healing music, please state that, and have it copyrighted. Even if it is something that sounds like Alex's uncle's work (John Cage), and is just an exploration of silence. The songs I wrote for the CD are Comfort Zone, Organic Alchemy and Everything is One. I just found New Earth Records, which has a beautiful website and even more beautiful music. I received my copy of "Tulku: Doors to Paradise". Itâ€™s a gorgeous compilation of world music ranging from ambient to downtempo to chill out, to mild world beat dance...I love it. Very diverse and beautiful!
